Well, another eight weeks has begun ! If you are visiting from EDUC -6135 Distance Learning, leave a quick hello in the comments below.  Tell me where you are from and why you became interested in ID work.  I became interested in instructional design after my best friend since third grade finished her masters in IDT.  She then convinced her husband to do the same. As an 8th grade English teacher, I have always designed a lot of my own materials and lessons, so this was a natural step for me.  I am so glad that I decided to pursue a masters in IDT.  I can see how it can open so many doors for me, and I am excited for what the future holds! I look forward to the next 8 weeks of learning.

  1. I have subscribed to your blog. I am from Northwest Florida. I started working in ID in the Air Force and continued after retirement in 2003. I develop curriculum for the military and government contracts. I started the MSIDT program in 2012 and had to stop for a short time last year. I have picked it back up this semester. I am looking forward to this class for its application in my current work. I like your blog!

  2. I am looking forward to a blog-based course as I had such a great time with the last one!

I am Washington State and I teach and develop curriculum in a small college. I became interested in ID after being thrown into the deep end and finding that it was something that really meant something to me. I teach, but to be truthful, I would rather create quality online instruction so that good teachers can teach better. Not the best sentence, but at the college level, too many times the faculty are experts in their field, but have no knowledge of education or learning. They need help to make sure they can impart their knowledge to their students effectively.

    Here's to a great 8 weeks!

  3. I am looking forward to working with you and gain a better understanding about distance learning and how we can incorporated into our daily work.

I am from Newport News, Virginia and I work with the Urban League which a non-profit organization in a after school program at a local high school. I became interested in ID because I saw an opportunity to incorporate education and technology. Technology allows you to be creative and implement quality online instruction.

  4. I am following you and looking forward to learning with you and learning from the variety of experiences of others in this course. I am from Hampton, Virginia and have taught public school for 8 years. Technology is being implemented into education at a rapid and steady pace and due to my love of both teaching and technology, ID is the logical career choice for me.

  5. Hi there, I am from Illinois and I am a fellow classmate from the distance education class. I got into distance learning when I worked as a flash designer in 2008 building elearning modules for a health organization. It was a rewarding experience to be able to help learners enjoy their learning by designing an engaging experience. I have not looked back since, fast forward 5 years and I am pursuing my masters degree in Instructional Design & Technology.
